An Amazing Team
Sisters Shopping on a Shoestring has grown so much over the years, I’ve had a hard time keeping up posting. So we have a superb team in place to help out. All of our contributors are from NE Ohio and have the core values that Sisters Shopping on a Shoestring was built on. They keep on top of frugal living tips, DIY cleaning, Midwest recipes, local store match-ups. You can learn more about me, Sara, on my About page.

My name is Megan, and I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Sara and help bring you deals and save you money. I’m a former second grade teacher who has been home with my growing family since my oldest daughter was born. That family includes my husband and four kids: my 9-year-old daughter and three boys, ages 3, 5, and 7. If you see a lady in the grocery store with a big blue binder and four kids in and around the race-car shopping cart asking if it’s time for their bakery cookie, it’s probably me!
I have always used coupons, but started getting more serious about it when we went down to one income in the family. In the past few years, the income has remained steady while my kids’ appetites (and our grocery budget!) have grown steadily, so couponing and deal seeking have become part of my weekly routine. I also try to use my couponing time and energy to purchase items to donate for little to no out-of-pocket cost. I was recently able to donate about $150 worth of health and beauty items, and had paid about 10% of their value, thanks to this website. I’m thankful to be able to help others while still staying within my budget.
I’m big on meal planning (both for my budget and my own sanity!), and I love to cook when I have the time. We also love to travel and plan fun themed birthday parties for the kids…all while on a “Shoestring” budget. It’s been so much fun to be a part of the Sister and Mister community, and I really enjoy interacting with everyone in the comments and on Facebook!
I’m Melinda. I’ve been married to my awesome husband for 14 years now. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom since my first child was born 9 years ago. We have three very busy kids ranging in ages from 9 to 4. It is a blessing being around them, caring for them, watching them grow, and guiding their paths.
I’ve been couponing and shopping for the very best deals for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I learned how to cut with scissors by cutting out coupons for my family. It is definitely something I’ve grown up doing. Now as a mom, I do my best to score the best deals to provide our family with what we need so we can have money left over for our other goals. Sometimes it’s a challenge, but I try to make it fun along the way.
