Tuesday Tip of the Day–Helping Schools

It’s a time of year when many of us think about giving back.  With programs like these, a little effort goes a long way; they give us an opportunity to offer assistance to local schools while being on a shoestring budget.  Consider taking a few minutes to check out these programs:

Giant Eagle Apples for the Students: Register here with the school(s) of your choice to earn points on purchases made with your Giant Eagle Advantage card.

Labels for Education: You might think of these as “Campbell’s Soup Labels,” but the program has expanded to include Goldfish crackers, Post cereal, Pop Secret popcorn, several magazines, and more.  Clip the labels on these participating products, and send them into school.  You can also register your store card here, and items you buy will automatically earn credit for your chosen school.

Box Tops for Education: Each clipped Box Top earns 10¢ for your school.  Find a complete list of participating products here (General Mills cereals and Pillsbury refrigerated products are among the most popular, but there are many more).  Sign up on the Box Tops web site for additional earning opportunities by watching videos, and to access printable coupons that are usually higher in value than those on other sites.

Tyson Labels and Our Family Labels: Two more brands that can earn schools money–clip the labels and send them in!

If you’re not sure, call schools and ask to see what they accept.  Save up, then send them to school with a child, grandchild, or neighbor; or drop them in the mail.  It doesn’t cost anything but a little extra time, and the schools appreciate all the help they can get!
