Tuesday Tip of the Day – Menus

One way to be frugal and make your savings count is to switch your thinking when planning your weekly menu. Most people shop AROUND the menu. Savvy Shoppers and Money-Wise people plan their menu around what’s on sale and what’s stocked up.

Common staple meals in our household include:
1. Pasta (free pasta and cheap sauces or olive oil and garlic – throw in clams, chicken, shrimp, etc)
2. Breakfast foods – who said breakfast had to be in the morning? Cheap Bacon, Eggs, and Free Ore Ida hashbrowns, Pillsbury Biscuits – easy casseroles or just by themselves!
3. Mexican – ElPaso and Ortega go on sale frequently enough combined with coupons = cheap!
4. Standard – Meat, veggie (free Birds-Eye), and potato (free instant mashed)
5. Casserole – Free No Yolks, 17¢ Campbell’s soups
6. Grilled burgers or hotdogs – check out thrift bread outlets and purchase cheap bread
