HoHo Sheet Cake Recipe
If you’re looking for a decadent holiday cake that will feed the masses, the HoHo Sheet Cake Recipe will meet both of those requirements! I have a large holiday party each year and this is always on the menu. It can easily feed 20 people.

Ingredients
- Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 1⁄2 cup melted butter
- 1⁄2 cup oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
- Filling
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 1 cup Crisco
- 1-2 tablespoons water
- Icing
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 6 tablespoons margarine
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 3⁄4 cup semi-sweet (or dark) chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Cake: Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, salt & cocoa together.
- Add remaining ingredients and beat well.
- Pour into greased Jelly Roll Pan.
- Bake at 350 deg for 15 minutes (check with toothpick)
- Filling: Beat together 1 cup powdered sugar and all remaining ingredients for 5 minutes.
- Add additional powdered sugar, one cup at a time until you get the consistency of icing
- Beat until smooth and pliable
- Spread onto cooled cake layer
- Put in freezer while you make the frosting
- Frosting: Mix sugar, butter, and milk together. Bring to soft boil for approximately 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat
- Add chocolate chips and vanilla
- Beat until cooled and slightly thickened.
- Spread over chilled filling layer
- Let stand until frosting cools and sets
- Chill until ready to serve
