When I first heard about the Free Glasses deal from Coastal.com, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical. I’m always on the lookout for a good deal, but I’m wary if things sound too good to be true. The hubby needed new glasses and we didn’t want to pay a bundle, so we thought it might be worth a try, and figured we could use the satisfaction guarantee if they didn’t work.
His glasses arrived Thursday night (a day early), and they’re great. We had ordered a $98 frame, upgraded the lenses to “Ultra thin air” lenses for his strong prescription (1.5 index lenses and lower are free, upgrades range from $19.95-$49.95 for higher prescriptions), and we chose the UV, scratch, and anti-reflective coating bundle ($19.95, or $9.95 per coating if you buy them separately). Our total after discounts (including shipping) was just $54.85, a pretty good value for a nice pair of glasses.
Discount code FIRSTPAIRFREE gets free frames and 1.5 index lenses, with 50% off all lens upgrades. Other options include bifocals and transition lenses. They also sell contact lenses, so I’m hoping to keep an eye out for a deal on those too (haha…no pun intended!).
You’ll still need a prescription from an eye doctor to order, but this is a reasonably-priced option for glasses, especially for people like my husband and me who don’t wear glasses all day every day, but still need a functional pair. We had to do a little adjusting to the nosepads and earpieces when the glasses arrived (that’s where you miss getting fitted in the office!), but overall I’d recommend the experience.
