Cooking with Coupons: Stupid Dip

If you’re still sticking to a New Year’s resolution diet, go ahead and skip this post.  But when I saw the coupon for Hormel chili, I knew I had to share this recipe.  It probably has a more descriptive name, but in our family, it’s called Stupid Dip.  It’s so easy to make and well-received that my mom started bringing it to almost every family gathering.  My uncle said, “Oh, you brought that stupid dip again?!”  The name just stuck.

It’s quick, yummy, and totally not good for you, but it’s a great for a party (Super Bowl anyone?).  That way you can just have a scoop and not eat a whole pan. 🙂

Stupid Dip

  • 1 8-oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can Hormel Chili with no beans
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • taco seasoning

Spread softened cream cheese to cover the bottom of a 9-inch glass pie pan. (If the cream cheese is still firm, microwave 15-29 seconds to make it easy to spread.)  Cover the cream cheese with the chili.  Sprinkle taco seasoning to taste over the chili, then spread shredded cheese on top.  Microwave for 5 minutes.  Serve with tortilla chips or scoop corn chips.
