My family and I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a night away at Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay Water Park! With the freezing temperatures out, a tropical get-away where temperatures are always 82 degrees sounded pretty amazing! With the long winter, it was a welcomed break.
We had never been there. Right away we were SO excited! The lobby of the hotel was very inviting and clean. There’s a huge pirate ship display that puts on a fun show with the parrots and crows. My girls sat there with full attention on the animated birds.
The resort features a total of 237 hotel rooms and family suites. The suites can accommodate families up to six easily.
We stayed in the basic “Starfish” room. It had 2 queen beds, a closet, a mini fridge, a microwave, a flat screen tv, a small table with 2 chairs, and a bathroom with a bathtub/shower (very clean). We were at the far end of the resort, so I’m not sure if that’s why our room was so quiet – but we LOVED how quiet it was! The room was nice and was very clean.
Castaway Bay is 38,000-square-foot indoor water park loaded with water activities for all ages. The wave pool was a favorite of our family. You can see how large it is. The attention to detail in creating a water destination is amazing. Can I say that I loved that I felt like I wasn’t in Ohio? After this difficult winter, isn’t it nice to picture somewhere warm?
Jim and I loved the indoor water roller coaster (Jim and Meghan above in the water roller coaster).
The water park is a five-story structure featuring a vaulted wood ceiling that gives a tropical feel with the lush greenery and bright colors. There is a separate toddler area that has sprays, slides and activities for the little ones.
I am an anxious mom around large groups, especially with my kids. I felt at ease at Castaway Bay. It’s large enough that my girls (ages 5 & 6) did not get bored. However, it’s small enough that I feel very comfortable in letting them out of arm’s reach. I feel that this water resort would be great for kids up to fifth or sixth grade.
Castaway Bay really caters to the youngsters. Mia and Meghan loved getting a picture with Snoopy! They had a souvenir picture with Lucy too.

There’s a 6,000 square foot state-of-the-art arcade (Jim’s favorite)
I was SO happy that they had Starbuck’s coffee on hand in the morning! The girls and I eyeballed the pastries at Ebb & Eddy’s when we arrived. The girls were up at their typical 6 am time, so we let Jim sleep in and headed down to get coffee and breakfast treats. Take a look at the size of that donut Meg is eating! Jim said it’s worth the trip for the cinnamon rolls alone 🙂
You can find other restaurants at the resort as well, including TGI Fridays, Mango Mikes, Big Daddy Snack Shack and room service is also offered.
Now the fun part – the good people at Castaway Bay gave me a gift for one of you too! One lucky reader will win FOUR DAY PASSES – a $116 value! If you’ve been to Castaway Bay, you know how much fun their water park is for adults and children! If you haven’t been, you’ll love it!
