This Week’s Coupons Inserts in Local Papers

With all the different coupon inserts available today, I thought it might help local Sisters and Misters to know which ones I found in the local papers I picked up:

Cleveland Plain Dealer: 2 SmartSource inserts (bigger ones), Walmart flyer with high-value diaper coupons (no RP or GM)

Akron Beacon Journal and Canton Repository: 2 SmartSource (smaller ones, fewer coupons than the PD), Red Plum, and General Mills (no Walmart)

Unfortunately none of these papers had the Johnson & Johnson Target store coupons.  Did anyone get a paper that had those?

It seems like we never get any on the good high value coupons in this area. I get the Akron Beacon Journal each Sunday. I did not have any of the good coupons. I often travel to Columbus on the weekends. I pick up the COlumbus Dispatch. That paper has all of the good coupons. I tried to subscribe to that paper and have it mailed to my home, but I was told that they could not do that.

The metro papers are more likely to have the higher-value coupons in them (Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh), and I was pretty happy with the Plain Dealer today (although it didn’t have that $2.15 Finish coupon that I was hoping for). I wanted the ones that had the General Mills and Red Plum too though, so I got 2 PDs, a Beacon, and then the Rep that gets delivered to my house. That’ll be plenty to keep me busy this week!

The independent had 2 smart source and the smart source box top edition as well, no red plum though. For $1.25 it was totally worth that splurge buy!

I agree that the Columbus Dispatch coupon fliers are fantastic. Does anyone know what the closest city to Akron gets the Dispatch for sale? I am wondering how far south I would have to go on a Sunday to be able to purchase it.

Thank you for sharing this information. I picked up extra copies today (BJ and PD) and wasn’t sure if I got all of the inserts that I should have. Thank you for letting us know.

I get the Plain Dealer delivered to my house near Newton Falls–I had the 2 different Smart Sources, one of which had Planter’s Peanut coupons for the Big Nut Bars—I then bought the Akron Beacon Journal, the Plain Dealer and the Record Courier in Streetsboro, The Record Courier had the General Mills in them, and the Plain Dealer and Akron Beacon journal had one Smart Source plus. The Record Courier also had the General Mills coupons–the smart sources were not the same in the papers at all although they were all in the same location and the PD in Streetsboro didn’t have the planter’s nut bars–really very odd.

Maybe if we all put our heads together we can figure this stuff out…although once we do they’ll probably change it up again :) We can try to post some updates like this on “big coupon” Sundays, and hopefully it’ll help those who haven’t bought their extra papers decide which ones to get. Thanks to everyone for their reports!

I didn’t realize the Smart souce I got had the Johnson and Johnson items–plus I got the Walmart Diaper coupons–they came from the Plain Dealer (which normally has barely any coupons) and the plain dealer here near Newton Falls had the Planters Nutiricious as well as a 75 cent coupon for the big nut bars–I wish we all could figure this out!

Lucky! Mine didn’t…I kind of think that even within the same paper there’s some variation with the ads. I live out in the country, and I we seem to get fewer ad flyers with our paper, so maybe the Walmart was considered an ad. Thanks for sharing!

I live close to the PA border and I normally get the Beaver County Times and the Pittsburgh Gazette. Both of them had 2 smartsource, GM, and the walmart diaper coupon paper.

I live in Pittsburgh and get the Post Gazette. We got the Box Tops insert as well as two SS and the Walmart ad with the diaper coupons.

i live east of cleveland and got plain dealer with two big SS, GM insert and walmart diapers coupons. no RP, they deliver those to our homes on tuesdays. Its not actually all that good because we only get one copy (unless friends and neighbors share).

I am new to this, I got the plain dealer, I live up in Cleveland area and I didn’t see no Walmart flyer with high-value diaper coupons (no RP or GM). I have the walmart ad but no coupons in it. And what does RP and GM mean??

Hi Katie–This was an older post from 2012, so these weren’t the coupons from this week. You can find this week’s coupons here: http://www.sistersshoppingonashoestring.com/coupon-preview-1514 Coupon insert abbreviations: RP=Red Plum (not found in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, but many Cleveland residents receive this one by mail), SS=Smart Source (the Plain Dealer usually has more coupons and higher-value Smart Source coupons because it’s a metro area paper), PG=Procter & Gamble (usually the first Sunday of the month), and GM=General Mills (not a usual insert, but a few times a year they’ll have a special one with coupons just for General Mills products. Look for our weekly coupon preview post on Thursdays so you’ll know what to expect that weekend in the newspapers. The coupons will vary by area, but it’ll give you a general idea. :)
