Comments

  1. Jessica says

If you purchase 8 of the cereals, will you be able to get the $.40 off per gallon or would you have to do it in two transactions?

  2. Jennifer says

because she takes the oop for the groceries and subtracts the future value of the fuel perks in this case it is .20 when you buy 4 which is 6.00 off of 30 gallons.

  3. Theresa says

May I respectfully ask why you use 30 gallons as a way to figure the savings? I don’t know of anyone who drives a vehicle that large and GE does not allow the savings to be used by more than one vehicle.

    • Cara says

But they do allow you to fill gas cans in addition to your vehicle. We always pump the whole 30 gallons to get all our money’s worth. :)

    • Liz says

We – respectfully – being a blue collar family of 7, have both an suv and pick up truck that both drink 30 gallons dry.

      • Kerry says

I always fill up the tank and gas can. If I get it to where I can get dirt cheap or free gas, I am going to get all of what is due to me. I spent the money, I am going to get it back somewhere.

    • Ron says

Our GE only allows you to fill a single can but my Dodge Ram has a 37 gallon gas tank so it’s not to hard to maximize the savings….

      • peanutkla says

This is not a corporate policy. I had this issue one time until I insisted on calling corporate from THEIR phone in THEIR station after they turned my pump off (I only have a 12 gal car) henace losing the fuelperks for 13 gal. I suggest you call corporate & ask, b/c I know that this is not a policy.

  4. Joann says

some of the coupons you have listed won’t work because of size restrictions-for example the frosted flakes .70/1 is for 14oz. or larger, cinnamon almond raisin bran is 14.5oz only, etc.

  5. tim says

If you don’t take the entire 30 gallons when using fuelperks you are throwing money away. Giant Eagle will even sell you five gallon gas jugs for $10 each which is a good price.

Thanks for the matchup, Sisters on a Shoestring!

      • Kerry says

I don’t see any coupons either. I am wondering if they are having issues with people copying coupons. They have a reminder on the website about it. Makes me worried about when I put coupons in the recycle bin after they expire.

  6. Carol says

They calculate using 30 gallons because it gives you the maximum savings. My car usually only takes 15 gallons so I bring 3, 5gallon gas cans to use all 30 gallons, which G.E. allows. Use those cans for other gas powered equip (lawn mower, weed eater, etc.) .

  7. Jessica F. says

I LOVE YOU MATCHUPS! except for these ones. I think that it is very misleading especially to the newbies to see FREE under a certan cereal when really they have to pay $1.50 oop. If you are taking the fuelperks savings off of the food products, then when you buy gas are you considering that full price? You can’t have free cereal and free gas. You pay fo it somewhere. Thank you for all you do. I really appreciate it, just think about how this looks to the other couponers that don’t understand.

    • Megan says

My thinking on that is…I’m going to be buying the gas and paying for it anyway, whether or not I had any fuelperks. So if I get the $$ off by buying a certain item, I kind of count that $$ off then in my mind, since I’d be buying the gas anyway.

      • Cara says

I agree–look for the best deal overall. Just like how you list all the coupons available for a certain product, and you calculate based on the best coupon out there. Each person may not have that best coupon, but we’re each responsible for doing our own re-calculations after you find the best deal out there for us.

  8. emily says

What I do…. I take what I find on Sisters (because its the best!) and I do my own math with how much gas I will reasonably use. The chances of us getting 30 gallons is unlikely. So… I recalculate with using 20 gallons (which in the above case would be $4 instead of $6). If its still a good deal, I’ll do it. If not, I’ll pass. That why I am not wasting my money! Try to re-do the deals with how much gas you will use. It prob wont be “free”, but it will still be a really awesome deal I am sure!

  9. Carli says

I like using the 30 gallons in the math since it maximizes your savings… we have (3) 5 gallon red cans and never get less than 30 gallons… that is throwing money away in my opinion, so I agree with how the Sisters do it! You have to buy gas anyway and pay for it, so this is just a way to save money by not having to pay for it out of pocket at the pump. This is the best website, hands on, for matchups! Thank you Sisters for all that you do :)

  10. Matt says

Most customers don’t take advantage of the full savings of the 30 gallon gas incentive, so it doesn’t really hurt giant eagle’s pocketbook when the occasional 30 gallon fillup comes along. We fill our van up with 17 gallons, and haul the other 13 home in gas containers. I fill our van up 7-10 days later with the other 13 gallons stored in our garage. It only takes a few more minutes to do it this way and we save an extra $45.50 in gas (13 gallons x $3.50 pump price). I estimate I’m saving at a rate of $500 per hour doing it this way.

  11. Niki says

Anyone try this yet? I’m worried about the size restrictions on the 70 cents Frosted Flakes and Krave? Also, do I need to get four from the same section for the fuel perks??

    • RonnaS says

My experience last year was that you have to get 4 from the 4/$10 or 4 from the 4/$12 to get the fuelperks. I was new to couponing and wasn’t careful about which cereals I got and did not get the fuel perks. You can mix and match within the 2 groups of cereals.

    • Heather says

      Niki,

I bought the ones on sale and it took all of my .70 cent coupons….I buy someone out of the 4 for 10 and some from 4 for 12.

  12. Jennifer says

Does anyone know if the cinnamon raisin bran is included for sure? My GE is a half hour away so I can’t just run in and check. Thanks!!

    • Megan says

I don’t think it is. Only the regular Raisin Bran was on the endcaps, and I meant to check in the aisle, but forgot. Only the new Raspberry-filled Frosted Mini Wheats were included too (not the other flavors)

  13. Jennifer says

Thanks for the info, and just a heads up the Frosted Flakes are a good deal even without the coupon, for every 6 boxes you get with the spiderman code you get a free movie ticket valued up to $12.00 and when the ticket prints it say it is good for any movie until July 2013, so Free movie and gas sounds like a free date night to me!!!

    • Heather Hickey says

The Movie Tickets are on a bunch of the Kellog’s cereals at least that’s what the site says! Corn Pops, Fruit Loops,Grips, Graham Crackers,Crunchy Nut, Frosted Flakes, Krave, Mini Wheats,Nutrigrain bars, and more!
